Quadrangles is the FIRST Robotics Competition Team of Bloomington, Indiana . Based out of Bloomington High School South, Team 3494, was founded in 2011. Continuing to grow in numbers, students are provided with the opportunity to build a competitive robot while gaining a real-life engineering experience and learning more about the STEM application.
The mission of FIRST (For Inspiration and
Recognition of Science and Technology) is to inspire students to be science and technology leaders by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs building science, engineering, and technology skills that will inspire innovation and foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, leadership, and communication and to show students that science, technology, and problem-solving are not only fun and rewarding, but also proven paths to success.
Dean Kamen, the founder of FIRST, is a tireless advocate for science and technology. FIRST was founded in 1989 to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology. Based in Manchester, NH, the not-for-profit public charity designs accessible, innovative programs that motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math, while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills.
to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors, the closest to "real-world engineering" a student can get. They learn from professional engineers, build and compete with a robot of their own design in alliances and tournaments, and learn how to use sophisticated software/hardware.
FIRST Robotics Competition combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, student teams try
